West Brom boss Bilic shares how he wants to see the season end

Slaven Bilic wants to see the 2019/20 season come to an end with West Brom being able to play out their final nine matches.

Before football ground to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic last month, Albion were on course for automatic promotion from the Premier League.

Bilic’s men are still second in the Championship and six points clear of third-placed Fulham with a far superior goal difference but there are suggestions that the whole campaign could be declared null and void.

Bilic doesn’t want to see the season decided in the boardroom and would rather see his team be able to decide their fate on the pitch.

“I don’t know when football will restart. The professionals will decide that, but the important thing is the safety of the people,” Bilic told Turkish newspaper Fanatik.

“Actually, I don’t think about football at the moment. I hope football will resume soon both in England and Turkey. Because I think this season needs to be completed on the pitch.”

There are going to be issues along the way to completing the season but there is no way that it can be chalked off as though it never happened – imagine the lawsuits that teams like West Brom and Leeds could open up.

Right now, everyone should be forgetting about next season because the priority, within football, has to be getting this season completed in the safest way possible.
