West Brom legends ringing senior Albion fans during coronavirus lockdown
West Brom legends have been ringing the club’s more senior supporters to check on in them during the current coronavirus lockdown.
The Express & Star reported last month that Albion had identified all 1,800 season ticket holders aged 70 and above and assigned 60 staff members to keep in contact with them during this national crisis.
It seems that some of West Brom’s former players have also been involved in this.
The WBA Former Players Twitter account confirmed on Tuesday that legends like Brendan Batson, Ally Robertston and Joe Mayo have all been in touch with the club’s more vulnerable fans.
It was a great, heartwarming gesture as it was by West Brom to have a team of 60 people staying in touch with the older supporters. But to have ex-players manning the phones and speaking to them is something else.
Understandably, a lot of West Brom fans on Twitter were full of praise for the club and the former players who have taken part.

West Brom have also put together 150 food parcels and distributed them to NHS workers, food banks, special schools and the elderly.
Chief executive Mark Jenkins has taken a 100 per cent pay cut for the duration of the lockdown and no one is yet to be furloughed despite the club receiving next to no income.
In other West Brom news, three Albion players were allowed to head abroad earlier this month but are now unable to return.
