‘I’m a little worried ‘ – West Brom Super Fans react as 2019/20 season remains in limbo

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.

It has been over a month since West Brom last played due to the coronavirus pandemic forcing football across the world to shut down.

As it stands, no one has a clue about an actual date when the currently incomplete 2019/20 season can resume but there have been a lot of plans mooted by fans, pundits and football’s governing bodies.

Earlier this week, the Yorkshire Evening Post revealed a letter that had been sent by the EFL to all Championship clubs, saying that there is a plan in place to finish the season behind closed doors over a period of 56 days.

We asked our panel of West Brom Super Fans about what they thought and whether there is an increasing possibility of the season being declared null and void, which would end the Baggies’ promotion bid in cruel fashion.

Here is what they had to say:

Dave Neale (@baggiedave70)

Luke Pollard (@LukeyP_wba)

Connor Moore (@Connormoore_wba)

West Brom are second in the Championship table, six points clear of third-placed Fulham and have nine matches to play so, understandably, Albion fans want to see the season completed.

The Baggies are well placed to win automatic promotion and having to start again from scratch would be a worrying prospect.

If the season was voided, what would happen to loan deals for players like Grady Diangana and Callum Robinson? We’d have to find replacements and that would throw next season into doubt.

Playing the remaining games behind closed doors is the more realistic option but that also has its disadvantages as fans all want to attend games and it could hurt other clubs financially.

There is no easy way to deal with all this but we need to remain patient and hope that the season is not voided.

In other West Brom news, Kevin Phillips has named a striker who Albion should try to sign.
