Report: Alaves willing to sign Burke on permanent deal from West Brom

Alaves would be open to signing Oliver Burke on a permanent basis from West Brom once his loan deal expires in the summer, according to AS.

The Spanish news outlet claims that Alaves’ sports director Sergio Fernandez is exploring the possibility of buying 23-year-old Burke while former Cardiff midfielder Victor Camarasa, who is on loan from Real Betis, is also an option for the La Liga club.

Since Burke was sent out on loan by Slaven Bilic in the summer, he has made 22 appearances in all competitions for Alaves and scored one goal, which came against Eibar in February.

Burke is widely seen as a flop by West Brom fans after failing to impress at The Hawthorns since his £15million switch from RB Leipzig in 2017.

The Scotland international struggled to get game-time in the Premier League under Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew before again struggling to make an impact in the Championship when Darren Moore was in charge.

The ex-Nottingham Forest forward was sent on a half-season loan to Celtic last January but hardly pulled up any trees despite winning the Scottish Premiership title with the Bhoys.

Burke has hardly been a regular for Alaves with the Scottish player starting just seven matches in La Liga.

However it seems that the Spanish club are willing to do business with West Brom in the summer and it is unlikely that the Baggies will be that hard to deal with.
