Martin Tyler has admitted he has to tread carefully when he is talking to West Brom fans at The Hawthorns - because he supports Woking.

Not many Albion fans will need reminding of their side's 4-2 defeat to Woking in the FA Cup in 1991 when Tim Buzaglo scored a shock hat-trick away at the Baggies.

It was, without doubt, one of the biggest surprise defeats in West Brom's history.

Sky Sports commentator Tyler is a fan of The Hawthorns stadium, saying that he likes how accessible the ground is off the M5 motorway and the noise the the home support generates.

However he tries to bite his lip when it comes to talking about his beloved Woking.

"It is accessible and very atmospheric," Tyler wrote on the Sky Sports website.

"I always pick my words carefully in talking to the fans. Mentioning memories of the late great Cyrille Regis is always a safe subject. Mentioning that I am a Woking fan is not!"

West Brom fans pride themselves on The Hawthorns.

It's the highest professional football ground above sea-level in English football and has been home to the club since 1900.

Since it's refurbishment, the Birmingham Road End, Smethwick End and East Stand offer a modern touch to an old, classic football stadium.

Many have suggested that the Halfords Lane stand should be expanded on in the future, but that is a discussion that is unlikely to become serious any time soon.
