View: West Brom’s best three wins of the 2019/20 season so far

Loads of West Brom fans are praying that the currently-suspended 2019/20 season can resume at some point with Slaven Bilic’s side gunning for promotion before the Championship was brought to a halt by the coronavirus.

Unfortunately, Albion were on a good run of form before the league was suspended with the Black Country club in second place, one point behind leaders Leeds and six points clear of third.

Clearly, everyone involved with the club wants the game to resume as quick as possible and it has been an extremely frustrating time with the number of plans that are being thrown about by media outlets, pundits, club officials and even some players.

You get the feeling that if the season does resume, it won’t be happening any time soon so here, we have made an effort to remind fans of the good times by listening West Brom’s three best wins of the season so far.

3 – West Brom 5-1 Swansea, December 8

Slaven Bilic’s men were on fire when Swansea travelled to The Hawthorns in early December. Semi Ajayi and Matheus Pereira put Albion two goals ahead after 34 minutes before Sam Surridge pulled one back for the Swans. Hal Robson-Kanu then managed to restore West Brom’s two-goal advantage just before the break in what was one of the most clinical first-half displays of the season by the boys in blue and white. Matt Phillips and Kyle Edwards both got themselves on the scoresheet in the 70th and 74th minute respectively to round off the Baggies’ biggest win of the season.

2 – Bristol City 0-3, February 22

Ashton Gate is usually a tough place to visit with Lee Johnson’s side a serious contender to finish in the play-offs before West Brom smashed Bristol City in February despite finishing the game with just 10 men. Callum Robinson got Albion off to a great start by scoring in the 32nd minute before Hal Robson-Kanu got himself on the scoresheet four minutes later. Romaine Sawyers saw red in the 77th minute for an altercation with former Walsall team-mate Jamie Paterson. Sawyers’ red card didn’t faze Albion though as Robson-Kanu scored his second of the game just minutes later to seal a huge win.

1 – Millwall 0-2 West Brom, February 9

It was only a 2-0 win and it was against a team that isn’t as strong as Bristol City and Swansea but West Brom’s victory against Millwall at The Den in February is easily the most impressive of them all. It was arguably the toughest match the players have had to play this season with Storm Ciara battering the nation. Even though Albion were playing in what felt like a hurricane, they dominated the game by peppering Millwall’s goal with shots and dominating in the air. According to stats by WhoScored, West Brom had 28 shots at goal versus Gary Rowett’s side, which is massively impressive given the conditions and how well Millwall can defend. Filip Krovinovic scored just before the break with a shot from outside of the penalty area to put Albion ahead. Although Bilic had to wait until the 84th minute to see his side double their lead through youngster Dara O’Shea – his first goal for the club – it was a comfortable win in less than comfortable conditions.
