Journalist details West Ham & Sheff Utd stance on Diangana & Robinson loans at West Brom
West Ham and Sheffield United have told West Brom they can keep Grady Diangana and Callum Robinson until the season ends, according to Express & Star journalist Joseph Masi.
Diangana, 22, was ever-present for the Baggies in the first half of the season as he scored five goals and supplied six assists in 21 Championship appearances.
However a number of injury issues from December onwards have meant he’s played just twice since the turn of the year, with his last appearance being against Stoke on January 20.
Robinson, 25, was brought in on loan from Sheffield United in January as a replacement left-winger while Diangana was sidelined and in his eight appearances, the former Aston Villa winger has impressed by scoring two goals and assisting one.
West Brom have relied on loan signings since their relegation in 2018 but there has been a fear about loans and contracts that expire in June when the currently-suspended 2019/20 season could run well into July and beyond.
But Albion will not have to worry about Diangana and Robinson, with Masi claiming on his personal Twitter account that both West Ham and Sheffield United have told the Baggies they can keep the two attackers “if/when football returns”.
This is a huge boost for West Brom because both players have been pivotal to the club’s impressive form in the Championship this season.
Although we haven’t seen Diangana since January, the on-loan West Ham winger should be fully fit by the time football is back on and he is bound to be able to tear up the Championship as he did back before his injury issues.
As for Robinson, West Brom have won 17 out of 24 points available to them since his arrival from Sheffield United in January.
The big issue for Slaven Bilic will be to decide which of them starts out on the left-wing.
