Report: West Brom could pay for Pereira next week if EFL use PPG to end season
West Brom could complete their purchase of Matheus Pereira from Sporting CP next week if the EFL decide to end the Championship season, according to the Express & Star.
Pereira, 23, has been in magnificent form while on loan at The Hawthorns this season and, fortunately, the Baggies have the option to sign him for just £8.25million.
Express & Star journalist Joseph Masi has assured Baggies fans that although no payments have been made to buy Pereria from Sporting CP, there is no need to worry.
West Brom can still sign Pereira whenever they want and cash will be sent to the Portuguese capital as soon as the season ends.
It could be made after the remaining nine matches are played or the newspaper reports it could happen as early as next week if the EFL opt to end the Championship season and use the points-per-game (PPG) model to decide final positions.
That would mean that West Brom would be handed the double boost of winning promotion and signing Pereira permanently.
What a day that would be because Pereira has been phenomenal this season and is worth way more than the £8.25million fee that Albion are set to sign him for.
In other West Brom news, this 21-year-old has announced he’s leaving the club.
