View: West Brom goalshare among squad shows major improvement under Bilic

When Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez left West Brom in the summer, there were worries that Slaven Bilic would struggle without a main goal-getter in his squad.

Last season, the Baggies scored 87 goals in the regular Championship season with Gayle and Rodriguez accounting for 45 of them – over 50 per cent of all league goals.

To account for losing those two proven goalscorers, Bilic brought in another proven goalscorer at Championship level in Charlie Austin while £8million was spent on snapping up Kenneth Zohore from Cardiff.

However, this season, Austin and Zohore have only scored 11 league goals between them, accounting for only 17 per cent of West Brom’s league goals under Bilic.

Although there is a clear lack of firepower up front, West Brom have made up for this by being a lot more fluid throughout their entire squad.

Astonishingly, out of the players who have made 10 or more appearances this season, Ahmed Hegazi is the only outfield player to have not hit the back of the net.

From top goalscorer Hal Robson-Kanu to Dara O’Shea and from Conor Townsend to Matheus Pereira, pretty much everyone in Bilic’s squad is able to hit the back of the net.

If the season resumes, we would guess that Hegazi might even get himself on the scoresheet at some point with the Egyptian proving useful at set-pieces in his first two seasons at The Hawthorns.

In other West Brom news, fans have called for a change to be made at The Hawthorns.
