‘Send it straight to Sporting’ – West Brom Super Fans react to reported transfer cash injection

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.

West Brom are set to be handed a cash injection of £10million with the Telegraph reporting that it will ease the club’s finances during the coronavirus pandemic.

Every club has been hit in the pocket since play was called to a halt in March but it seems Albion will have some of their concerns allayed by cash they are set to receive from player sales last summer.

It is understood that Burnley are due to pay the Baggies an instalment of £5million for Jay Rodriguez while Watford owe an instalment for Craig Dawson and Dalian Yifeng owe an instalment for Salomon Rondon.

West Brom were always going to receive this money at some point but our panel of West Brom Super Fans have been urging the club to use it towards signing loan stars like Matheus Pereira, Callum Robinson and Filip Krovinovic on permanent deals.

Here is what they had to say:

West Brom have the option to sign Pereira, 24, on a permanent basis from Sporting CP for £8.25million so it would make sense for a good chunk of that £10million to go towards landing the Brazilian attacker permanently.

It means Albion will have another £1.75million to spend and that could go a long way in helping secure a player like Krovinovic.

We would like to see Krovinovic and Grady Diangana sign permanently if the Baggies win promotion to the Premier League.

But Robinson is a different story with the Sheffield United winger struggling in the top-flight at Bramall Lane this term.

In other West Brom news, Kevin Phillips is thrilled by Albion being linked with this “exciting” attacker.
