Report: West Brom will move to sign loan star permanently on promotion, £8.9m available to spend
West Brom will make a move to sign Filip Krovinovic on a permanent basis from Benfica if they win promotion, according to Record.
The Portuguese newspaper claims that the Baggies have £8.9million available to spend on 24-year-old Krovinovic, who moved to the Black Country on a season-long loan in the summer and is understood to be happy in England.
West Brom are keen on signing the midfielder permanently but will have to wait until their promotion to the Premier League is confirmed before they can advance their interest.
Krovinovic did not have the best of starts to life at The Hawthorns when he arrived at the request of fellow Croat Slaven Bilic in the summer.
Although he started the first five Championship matches of the season and supplied two assists in the process, Krovinovic was dropped to the bench by Bilic and played a fringe player role up until the end of January.
Since starting, and assisting in the 2-1 defeat to Cardiff, Krovinovic has started every match up until the football was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, impressing fans with his performances in the midfield.
Matt Phillips has been kept on the bench by Krovinovic’s form and we fully expect the Baggies to press on with trying to sign the Croatian playmaker if they win promotion to the Premier League.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies could try to land this Chelsea player on loan if they go up.
