BBC One to air documentary featuring West Brom & Aston Villa tomorrow night

Prince William’s visit to meet the West Brom squad will be aired in a documentary on BBC One tomorrow (Thursday) at 8:05pm.

The show, titled Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health, follows the prince’s “campaign to get British men to open up about mental health issues by using football as a way to get men talking and to break the taboo around the issue”.

Prince William visited the West Brom training ground in November and met the players as well as manager Slaven Bilic.

According to the Express & Star, the Duke of Cambridge also visited Aston Villa, the team he supports, to discuss mental health in football.

Prince William is an avid football fan and the current president of the FA.

It will be interesting to hear what Bilic and the Baggies players had to say when they spoke with the Royal Family member, who reportedly discusses candidly about the death of his mother Diana.

On the Mental Health website, it is reported that suicide is the most common cause of death for men aged between 20 and 49 and three-quarters of all death by suicide in 2018 were men.

It is something that is not discussed enough, even though there have been huge movements to be more open when talking about mental health in the last few years.

In other West Brom news, there’s been an update on Grady Diangana’s future.
