Report: West Brom ready to cash in on players to fund swoop for £17.9m-rated ace

West Brom are that keen to sign Vedat Muriqi that they are ready to cash in on some of their current players to fund a move for the Fenerbahce striker, according to Aksam.

Muriqi, 26, joined Fenerbahce from Rizespor last summer and hit the ground running in Istanbul by scoring 15 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions in his debut season there.

It is understood that Fenerbahce see Muriqi as one of their most valuable players and will only be open to negotiations starting at £17.9million.

However Turkish news outlet Aksam claims West Brom will have to free up funds to launch a move for the Kosovo international.

It remains to be seen which players Albion will be willing to part with in order to spend what would be a club-record fee on Muriqi if Fenerbahce’s demands are met or exceeded.

But it seems quite farfetched that Slaven Bilic and Luke Dowling would be willing to get rid of their proven high-value players to sign someone who is not tested in English football.

Fenerbahce are the biggest team that Muriqi has ever played for and while you do see the off gem get unearthed in European football, it would be one major gamble by West Brom to sell off players in order to sign him.

If the Baggies go up and need a new striker, it will be far less risky to go with someone who has experience in the Premier League.
