‘Dead wood’ – Some West Brom fans want £8m player sold as transfer report emerges
West Brom fans want the club to sell Kenneth Zohore to help fund a move to sign Fenerbahce centre-forward Vedat Muriqi.
Turkish news outlet Aksam has this week reported that the Baggies are intent on signing Muriqi, 26, when the transfer window opens but will have to free up funds to land the Kosovo international by selling players.
It is understood that Fenerbahce want at least £17.9million for Muriqi, who has scored 15 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions since moving to Istanbul from Rizespor last summer.
After Aksam’s report reached England, West Brom fans took to Twitter to name which players they would like to see offloaded in order to help pay for Muriqi.
Several different names were mentioned but someone who supporters seem eager to see sold is Zohore.
Since his £8million arrival from Cardiff in the summer, the 26-year-old Dane has scored five goals in 18 appearances in all competitions.
While that goalscoring record does not seem too bad, two of them have been from the penalty spot while another two came in the FA Cup.
Charlie Austin and Hal Robson-Kanu are firmly above Zohore in Slaven Bilic’s pecking order up front and that could be why fans think Zohore is so dispensable.
