Livermore details West Brom agenda & sends Championship warning to Leeds
Jake Livermore has warned Leeds United that West Brom are intending to win the Championship title once the season resumes.
Albion returned to training on Monday with players turning up to the Palm Training Ground in small groups to take part in no-contact sessions.
Chief executive Mark Jenkins has recently expressed West Brom’s desire to finish the season by playing all nine of their remaining matches and Livermore has since echoed that stance, saying that the Baggies want to play so they can win promotion and the Championship title
“The only fair way to finish it is on the field so there are no arguments,” Livermore said, as quoted by the Express & Star.
“Every team is going to have their own agenda and ours is to finish the league and hopefully finish top.
“That is what we hope we are able to do. That is why we have been training on our own for the last seven weeks, for this opportunity.”
West Brom lost their spot at the top of the Championship table just before the coronavirus-enforced suspension of the league as Leeds went on a five-match winning run.
However, Slaven Bilic’s side remains in a strong position to seal automatic promotion with them holding a six-point advantage over third-placed Fulham.
The Baggies still have some tough fixtures to play if the season does resume with a trip to Brentford and a home clash against Fulham remaining.
But West Brom have seen off top sides in the Championship already this term and we would expect them to be able to do the same behind closed doors at Griffin Park and The Hawthorns.
