Wednesday EFL meeting delivers massive promotion boost to West Brom and Leeds United – report

All eyes in the football world are on the big Premier League meeting today but the EFL met on Wednesday and there’s a big update for West Brom that’s come out from it.

While the big vote on how to end the season will take place next week, the Wednesday meeting approved a return to contact training according to the Telegraph.

A vote to return to contact training well now take place on Monday and the Telegraph claims that will pass, with the majority of clubs wanting to play on.

It means that West Brom and Leeds can expect to restart games on either June 19th or the 26th as the two clubs bid to secure Premier League promotion.

This is great news for Baggies fans and a big step towards getting back on the pitch at The Hawthorns.

Approval for contact training is the next big step and if it gets voted through on Monday, West Brom players could start tackling again on Tuesday.

It’s thought that clubs want at least three weeks of contact training to get their players back to full match fitness and that makes June 26th the most likely restart date.

That would be the very next step for the EFL to confirm if Championship clubs vote to play on next week.

Fixtures haven’t been confirmed yet but if they resume in the same order, the first match back is scheduled for The Hawthorns against Birmingham.

That match took one step closer to being scheduled after the news about contact training.

In other West Brom news, there’s been an update on Grady Diangana’s future.
