‘Abysmal’, ‘That went well, didn’t it?’ – Some West Brom fans hit back at Derby tweet on Baggies

West Brom fans have hit back at Derby County after the Rams reminisced about their play-off win at Wembley in 2007.

Tony Mowbray’s Albion finished fourth in the Championship that season, beat Wolves in the play-off semi-finals before losing by one goal against Derby in the final, despite being the better side for most of the game.

Derby are clearly still fond of that day as their official Twitter account posted an ‘on-this-day’ tweet on Thursday to remember that match 13 years ago.

Although it was a bitter pill for West Brom fans to swallow at the time, what happened the season put that nightmare to bed.

Not only did Mowbray lead West Brom to the Championship title and secure promotion back to the Premier League in 2007/08, but Derby also became record holders for all the wrong reasons.

Derby finished rock bottom of the Premier League, winning one of their 38 matches and earning a laughable 11 points.

After seeing the Rams try to reminisce about that day at Wembley, Albion fans were quick to remind the East Midlands club about what exactly happened a year later.
