‘It could affect Leeds’ – West Brom Super Fans react as ‘Ridiculous’ plan is mooted

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.

West Brom might be forced to play some of their remaining home games away from The Hawthorns if the police and local authorities decide that is the best way to prevent fans from congregating outside closed stadiums.

According to Times journalist Martyn Ziegler, the Baggies and Championship title rivals Leeds could be forced to play at neutral venues for “high-risk” fixtures.

Liverpool may also be forced to do the same as they will be closing in on their first-ever Premier League title once the football resumes next month.

We asked our panel of West Brom Super Fans for their views on the news and whether they would be likely to make their way to The Hawthorns to support the team even though they are playing behind closed doors.

Thankfully, none of the Super Fans have said they would go to The Hawthorns, which suggests that the plan to move West Brom games to neutral venues would be pointless.

It has also been pointed out that it would be unfair for Albion and Leeds to play at neutral games just because they’re in the top-two when the top-two is likely to be affected.

As Dan Nash points out, if Fulham and Nottingham Forest overtake us and Leeds, what happens then? Do they get sent to play at neutral venues?

You either do it for all or none of the teams in the Championship.

In other West Brom news, Lee Hendrie has tipped this Baggies star to do well in the Premier League if he bases his game on a Wolves player.
