Report: West Brom & Inter Milan in hunt to sign international striker nicknamed ‘The Tank’
West Brom have joined a number of European clubs in the race to sign San Lorenzo centre-forward Adolfo Gaich, according to TyC Sports.
The Argentine news outlet claims that Inter Milan and Atalanta are also interested in signing the 21-year-old while Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked.
It is understood that Gaich has a release clause at San Lorenzo, which means that the Baggies can land the striker for £12.1million.
Gaich scored five goals in 12 league appearances before the Argentine SuperLiga season was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He also earned his first, and so far only, cap for Argentina back in September when he appeared as a substitute in a 4-0 friendly win against Mexico.
Based on his sheer size and brute strength, 6ft 3 Gaich has been nicknamed ‘The Tank’ in Argentina – something which West Brom fans would no doubt use if he ever moved to the Black Country.
If Albion win promotion to the Premier League this season then Slaven Bilic will need to find himself a new striker to spearhead his attack.
As well as Hal Robson-Kanu has done as West Brom’s starting striker this season, he simply isn’t Premier League class and the same might be said about Charlie Austin and Kenneth Zohore.
Gaich has only made 27 first-team appearances for San Lorenzo, which means that West Brom will have to do a lot of homework on the striker before deciding to spend over £10millon on him.
But Baggies fans are likely to be excited by the potential addition of an Argentina international who is attracting attention from some of Europe’s top clubs.
In other West Brom news, Lee Hendrie has tipped this Baggies star to do well in the Premier League if he bases his game on a Wolves player.
