C’Ship club chief: ‘Absolutely no’ talks with individual clubs as WBA prepare for restart
Queens Park Rangers’ CEO Lee Hoos has claimed that the EFL didn’t hold talks with West Brom or any other club before confirming the Championship would return in less than three weeks.
The EFL released a statement on Sunday evening confirming that the Championship would provisionally restart of the 20th of June – a date that could still change.
Hoos believes that is an appalling decision, with clubs still not in full-contact training after returning last week.
The QPR chief revealed that there has been no talks held between clubs, who were informed just before the statement was released.
“Incredibly, there has been absolutely no consultation with individual clubs, nor with the Championship doctors’ working group by the divisional representatives,” he told QPR’s official website.
“On top of that, we were only made aware of the statement 40 minutes before it was made public.”
It was revealed by the Athletic’s Steve Madeley on Monday that the Baggies are fearful of losing their spot to Fulham once the restart begins.
According to the report, West Brom have held discussions at the Hawthorns over that potential nightmare with suggestions that another curtailment could happen in the second-tier.
As mentioned, this date is only provisional so the Baggies’ fears could be eased in the next fortnight. With Hoos claiming that he isn’t the only CEO in the division to be appalled by this decision, there could still be more changes to the restart.
