View: Telegraph report delivers hint to potential opponents for West Brom PL friendly
It was reported by the Birmingham Mail on Tuesday that West Brom are hopeful of securing one or two friendlies before the Championship resumes.
According to the report, the Baggies want to face a Premier League side and/or another Championship club that they have already played twice in this campaign.
With less than three weeks until the Championship resumes, Slaven Bilic is looking to test his players and give them a taste of more competitive action.
The Telegraph have released a report shedding some light and potentially giving a hint to which clubs could play each other in the next fortnight.
Premier League clubs have been forbidden from travelling further than 90 minutes for their friendlies, and it’s likely that Championship rules will follow suit.
Other rules include players travelling to and from the facilities in their own vehicles, as well as coaching staff officiating the games.
With those regulations in place, it could very well mean that the Baggies will play one of their Midlands rivals in preparation.
Bilic is currently prepping his troops for the first game back, which is against Birmingham at the Hawthorns – that is one club they won’t be able to face in these friendlies.
That leaves Premier League competition against Aston Villa, Wolves or Leicester.
We can’t see West Brom playing either Villa or Wolves – these are friendlies after all. It means Leicester could well be the top-flight side that Bilic looks to play.
