West Brom look to play pre-restart friendlies against Championship rivals and PL side – report

West Brom want to arrange one or two friendlies before the Championship restarts, according to the Birmingham Mail.

It is suggested that the Baggies are hopeful of securing some warm-up matches, with some enquiries already being made by the club.

The Birmingham Mail have reported that Slaven Bilic’s men want to play a Premier League side and/or one of the 14 Championship clubs that they have already played twice this season.

Some clubs are already reported to have made an enquiry to play West Brom in the next three weeks, as preparations for the season restart gather pace.

It was confirmed that the Baggies could return to full-contact training on Tuesday, but it will have been almost three months since their last competitive match.

West Brom weren’t in the best of form before the enforced break, not winning in their past three matches in all competitions and a couple of run-outs before the restart could definitely help.

This is a period in which Leeds and West Brom could help each other. There is no doubting that they have been the best two squads in the league, occupying the top-two spots all season.

Bilic and Marcelo Bielsa could test each other’s squads against each other once or twice in the next three weeks and could leave knowing they have tested themselves against the best once again before the season restarts.

It is more realistic that West Brom welcome one of their local rivals though, someone like Wolves or Aston Villa as it wouldn’t take as much travelling during the lockdown.
