West Brom set for major boost to Premier League promotion bid on Tuesday afternoon – report

West Brom will return to full-contact training on Tuesday afternoon as they prepare for the Championship restart in less than three weeks, according to the Express and Star.

It is suggested that the EFL were last night expected to give the green light for clubs to do so after a week of distanced training.

The EFL confirmed a provisional restart date of the 20th of June, with nine games still remaining in the regular season.

Clubs returned to training almost a week ago, starting socially distanced before being placed in smaller groups to work on the ball.

West Brom shared a post on their official Twitter account with some of their squad getting back into the action including big names such as Matheus Pereira.

It is reported that although many second-tier clubs have been unhappy with the decision to restart the campaign, the Baggies are eager to get going and earn promotion.

It will be easier for Slaven Bilic to get his group back into contact training, with none of his players or staff testing positive for COVID-19 in the latest rounds of testing.

Other clubs, such as Fulham, who have had three players test positive could find it much harder in the coming weeks to prepare for the restart.

With two massive games on the horizon – Birmingham at home then a tough trip to Brentford – Bilic will want as much time with his squad in match-like conditions as possible before the restart.
