Robson-Kanu provides West Brom training update, outlines next step in restart preparation

West Brom striker Hal Robson-Kanu has claimed that the club are gearing up for 11 v 11 friendlies in the next week.

The Baggies have made a return to the training ground ahead of a proposed restart date of June 20th in the Championship.

As part of that process, clubs in the second tier made a return to contact training earlier this week.

And Robson-Kanu has suggested that Slaven Bilic’s men will return to a proper match scenario sooner rather than later, as well as emphasising how far the club have gone to ensure the safety of its playing staff.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, he said: “Initially there were a few concerns around coming back – the impact and risk of coming into close contact with other people.

“But our club, West Brom, have put in a lot of measures to make sure the players are safe in terms of restrictions around the training ground, processes and protocols. In terms of the environment, we all feel safe.

“It’s really given us that extra boost, coming back in.

“It’s a quick turnaround. I think in a week we’ll be playing 11 v 11 friendlies.”

This is great news from Robson-Kanu.

Not only is it pleasing to hear that he and his teammates are feeling safe and comfortable with the resumption of full contact training, but knowing that the Baggies are getting ready for a return to on-field action can only be a good thing.

This last run of games will come to define Albion’s season, and the better the condition that they approach them in, the better their chances of succeeding in their promotion bid.

Bilic has already claimed that the fitness work his players put in during isolation was “exceptional”, and hopefully friendly matches will only help to improve his side’s chances going into these final nine fixtures.

In other West Brom news, Bilic has a major dilemma on the horizon for once the season resumes.
