Ex-West Brom player: I probably owe a few of my old managers an apology

Former West Brom midfielder James Morrison has claimed that he most likely offers some of his previous managers an apology.

The Baggies hero started as a volunteer on the coaching staff at the Hawthorns, but last week was confirmed as an assistant to under-23’s boss Deon Burton.

Morrison did admit that the swap over into coaching hasn’t always been smooth, but he is certainly learning on the job.

Morrison claimed that he still has much to learn after taking his first steps on the coaching ladder in the past year.

“I’ve got a lot to learn,” he told the Express and Star.

“I didn’t fully realise what goes on this side of things can be quite so different and I probably owe a few of my old managers an apology!

“I’m just going to take it step by step. I’m not going to get ahead of myself.”

Morrison has claimed that turning up to training and seeing players that he used to play with every day still remains strange, but the under-23s squad couldn’t wish for a coach who knows the club so well.

The Scotsman is a great choice after spending the majority of his career at the Hawthorns, and he will know exactly what it takes to jump into the first-team squad and enjoy a long successful career there.
