Slaven Bilic reacts as Chris Brunt decides to end long-term West Brom association
Slaven Bilic has hailed West Brom midfielder Chris Brunt after it was confirmed that he would leave the Hawthorns at the end of the season.
The Baggies legend has made over 400 appearances and after only nine of those came this season, Brunt felt it was the right time to call it quits.
Brunt has the chance to make it three promotions to the Premier League before leaving the Midlands, with Bilic’s men currently six points ahead of third-placed Fulham.
Bilic had nothing but praise for the veteran, claiming that ever since he arrived Brunt has been a shining example to everyone at the club.
“Chris has been brilliant,” he told the Express and Star.
“He cares so much about the club and he’s so professional. He hasn’t dropped one bit in training and he has always been very respectful of the situation.
“From day one, he was always there for me and my staff and the players – he is a proper club captain and he’s still one of the reasons why we are where we are. He’s done a bit on the pitch but he’s done a lot off the pitch.”
There aren’t many who have had such a decorated career at West Brom like Brunt, and he will leave the club as more than a legend.
It definitely won’t be the end of the Northern Ireland international though, and we certainly expect to see him around the club in some capacity down the line.
Bilic would surely welcome that with open arms too, especially if these glowing comments are anything to go by.
