West Brom unbothered by EFL decision that some C’Ship clubs disagree with – Luke Dowling

West Brom director Luke Dowling has claimed that not everyone will be happy as he responds to certain EFL clubs disagreeing with the restart date.

Queens Park Rangers have been outspoken about their disgust at the EFL’s decision, but Dowling admitted that this was the latest that the Championship could restart.

Slaven Bilic’s men are set to welcome local rivals Birmingham to the Hawthorns first-up, in what will be a great clash to start with.

The Baggies chief claimed that his side would have been ready to restart on Saturday (13th) as excitement levels grow.

“Whatever date you came up with would not please everyone; someone would be unhappy about it or point out some faults. I think that applies to so much in this situation,” he told the Birmingham Mail.

“Because of the number of games and also the play-offs at the end, it wasn’t going to be much later than June 20 with July 31 being the shut-off point.

“But I don’t think it bothers us too much and, as I say, I think the boys are all quite excited by it. Looking at the players this week, I think they wouldn’t mind starting on Saturday which is testament to how they have applied themselves at home and at the training ground.”

Dowling is spot on, not everyone is going to be happy. It is no surprise either that the clubs facing relegation are the ones disagreeing.

It is a great sign that the Baggies could restart as early as this weekend too, meaning they will be chomping at the bit once everything kicks off.
