Report details West Brom’s next step in preparation after 2-2 draw v Aston Villa

West Brom will stage friendlies within their own squad at the Hawthorns in the next fortnight as they prepare for the Championship restart.

That’s according to the Birmingham Mail, who have claimed that Slaven Bilic is looking to step up the workload in his squad.

It is understood that Bilic is keen to stage one more friendly with another team in the next two weeks.

It is suggested that Manchester United are viable opponents, although nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Bilic will still want to hold friendlies of two teams made up of players from his squad, as they prepare to welcome Birmingham to the Hawthorns on the first matchday.

The report claims that it will get the squad used to playing with no fans in the usually-full stadium in the Midlands.

The draw against Villa certainly proved that West Brom are nearing their best, after all, this is a side that lost to one of their nearest rivals last season.

Bilic’s men even took the lead twice, and it can only be good preparations to play against sides like Manchester United if possible – as these tests will stand them in great shape for the season restart.

Climatising to the Hawthorns will also be great for the Baggies, and even if they play within their squad, they will still be gaining great experience.
