Report details Chris Brunt & West Brom stance on future joint-testimonial with James Morrison

West Brom heroes Chris Brunt and James Morrison are likely to hold a joint-testimonial together at some point in the future but not until Brunt hangs up his boots for good, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Earlier this week, the Baggies announced that Brunt, 35, will leave The Hawthorns at the end of the season after 13 years, two promotions and over 400 appearances.

Brunt’s not the only long-serving player to have said his goodbyes to Albion fans in the last year as Morrison, 34, retired from the game last summer after a string of injury issues. He has since been appointed as the club’s new Under-23s assistant manager.

As for Brunt, he is eager to continue playing and any testimonial will only happen once those playing days are over.

In 2016, Morrison revealed that him and Brunt had a “gentleman’s handshake” on holding a joint-testimonial and raising money for charity in what would no doubt be a sell-out event at The Hawthorns.

It remains to be seen who the testimonial would be against but the Birmingham Mail has mooted Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn as a potential opponent while Stoke, who are managed by Michael O’Neill and likely to be Brunt’s next club, are also pointed out.

Then there are Brunt’s and Morrison’s former clubs Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough, who may also be possible opponents for the Baggies.

We don’t mind who it is against though, as long as one is held for two modern-day legends of The Hawthorns.
