View: Johnstone comments on West Brom mentality should serve as warning to C’Ship

West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone has insisted that his teammates can’t wait to get going again in the Championship.

The EFL have confirmed that the season will return on the 20th of June, with the Baggies set to welcome Birmingham to the Hawthorns.

Many different Championship clubs have disagreed with that decision, but one of those certainly isn’t West Brom.

Johnstone admitted that the West Brom remains in great shape in training, and are ready to get back into the action in less than two weeks.

“It’s been really good to get back to training and obviously see everyone again,” he told the club website.

“But all the boys have kept themselves in great shape. We’ve all been working really hard at home and now we’ve continued that in training.

“The start date is obviously a big boost and it gives us something to aim for and work towards. That’s what we want as players.”

These are exactly the sort of comments Slaven Bilic will want to see, and highlights just how driven his squad is.

Clubs such as Queens Park Rangers have been disappointed with the EFL, and that sort of attitude will filter down to their squad – compare that to the Baggies who are all ready for the promotion push.

This will fill all fans in the Midlands with massive confidence, and we can’t wait to see this attitude transfer onto the pitch and hopefully into promotion.
