‘One of the biggest stars’ – Euro journalist hails West Brom ace as ‘indispensable’ for country

West Brom winger Kamil Grosicki has been described as one of four players who are indispensable to the Polish national team.

Polish journalist Szymon Podstufka named the Baggies star and said that his personality made him stick out – not always for the best.

Podstufka admitted that alongside Lewandowski, Kamil Glik and the two keepers, Grosicki is indispensable for his ability to set up the Bayern Munich forward.

“He is one of four indispensable players now for the national team,” he told the Athletic.

“There is Wojciech Szczesny or Lukasz Fabianski, who are both really goalkeepers; Kamil Glik, who is the leader of the defence; Lewandowski and Grosicki, who provides the supply for Lewandowski.

“Grosicki is one of the biggest stars right now in the national team, maybe not because of his ability because Robert Lewandowski is a much better player and miles ahead of Grosicki.

“But he is a well-known character because he likes to talk to people and he is this funny guy and some people think he is crazy because of some of the things he’s said. He’s not extremely sensible with his interviews — he tends to say some funny or even childish stuff.”

Slaven Bilic and Baggies fans are yet to see that sort of ability from the 31-year-old since he arrived at the Hawthorns from Hull in January.

Yes, his opportunities have been limited behind the likes of Callum Robinson, but even we expected to see more.

Maybe the tide is changing though. Grosicki shared footage of his first goal for the club from the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday and it was delightful.

This is exactly what we wanted to see since his move from Hull – a player not frightened to get on the ball and take on his man. If Grosicki starts doing this consistently, he will quickly be considered an indispensable player under Bilic too.
