‘Horrendous place’, ‘Why?’ – Some West Brom fans react to transfer exit speculation
West Brom fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that Stoke City are favourites to sign veteran midfielder Chris Brunt.
The 35-year-old announced last week that he’ll be leaving The Hawthorns when his contract expires at the end of the season, drawing the curtains on a 13-year stint in the Black Country that has yielded over 400 appearances, two promotions to the Premier League and a place in Baggies history.
Brunt isn’t keen on hanging up his boots though and he is adamant that he has at least another season in the tank with Stoke now closing in on a deal to sign him on a free transfer.
The Express & Star reports that Blackburn are interested in Brunt but Michael O’Neill’s Stoke are in talks about a year-long contract with the option of an extra 12 months based on appearances.
Brunt is very much likely to be a Stoke player by the time next season comes around and some Albion fans aren’t too happy with him joining a Midlands rival.
While we know that Stoke aren’t a major rival of ours, there’s still been an extra edge to games against them over the past couple of decades.
Thankfully, Brunt might never play against West Brom due to the league positions of the Baggies and Stoke but that hasn’t stopped some fans from showing displeasure about the move.
There are, however, some who are simply pleased for the Albion legend.
