Jimmy Shan sends Twitter message to West Brom loanee after decisive EFL meeting
Former West Brom coach Jimmy Shan has congratulated Alex Palmer after the loaned-out goalkeeper won promotion to League One with Plymouth.
On Tuesday, League Two clubs met to vote to curtail the season early, which led to Plymouth winning automatic promotion to the third-tier.
Palmer, 23, played a major role in Argyle’s season as he made 41 appearances in all competitions and played every minute of every League Two match.
The Kidderminster-born shot-stopper kept 14 clean sheets during his loan spell at Home Park and his achievements down south has led to praise from ex-Albion caretaker manager Shan.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Shan said: “Fantastic achievement, Alex. Well done mate.”

Palmer must revel in the moment because winning promotion with Plymouth is a major accomplishment for him and we’re delighted to see one of the Baggies’ loaned-out players has done so well this season.
But Palmer will no doubt be facing an uncertain future now that his loan spell at Plymouth is effectively over as his contract at West Brom expires at the end of this month.
Palmer will turn 24 before next season kicks off and he is yet to make a single first-team appearance for the Baggies.
It wouldn’t be a shock to see Plymouth try to sign him once he becomes a free agent but Albion are likely to be owed a compensation fee by any club that signs him.
