Report: Ex-West Brom boss in pursuit of Baggies player amid recent development

West Brom star Chris Brunt is attracting attention after it was confirmed that he’ll be leaving The Hawthorns at the end of the season, according to the Express & Star.

Last week, the 35-year-old midfielder announced that he will find a new club once his contract with the Baggies expires.

Michael O’Neill’s Stoke are reportedly in talks about signing the former Northern Ireland international, with them planning to offer him a 12-month contract with the option of an extra year based on appearances.

But Stoke aren’t the only ones keen on Brunt with the Express & Star reporting that Blackburn are also interested.

Tony Mowbray signed Brunt at the Baggies in 2007 and it seems the ex-Albion boss is eager to reunite with his former player at Ewood Park.

Stoke are said to be in the driving seat at the moment though with Brunt and his family settled in the Midlands and a move to Blackburn would likely mean he would have to move nearer to the North-West.

Brunt has made over 400 appearances in his 13 years at The Hawthorns and could win his third promotion from the Championship before the season is over.

It’s no surprise that teams like Stoke and Blackburn want a player as experienced as Brunty.

They might see him as a leader who’ll help bring Premier League football back to the Bet365 or Ewood Park.
