View: West Brom v Man United may not happen as PL club forced into re-think after COVID-19 scare
West Brom might not be able to play against Manchester United this week with the Premier League club now worried about facing other teams, according to the Mirror.
The newspaper claims that United were due to play Stoke City but one of Michael O’Neill’s players received a positive coronavirus test upon his arrival at Carrington.
None of the Man United players came into contact with the Stoke squad, who departed Carrington promptly after it was made clear one of the players was a carrier of COVID-19.
But the health scare has prompted the Premier League giants into a re-think about their preparations – which may affect West Brom.
The London Evening Standard has reported that Albion and Man United are close to agreeing to play one another in a warm-up match this week, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finalising details between the two clubs.
However the Mirror say in their report that the Red Devils might review their stance on allowing players from other teams to go to the likes of Carrington and Old Trafford.
West Brom have already seen one of their warm-up matches called off, which was ironically meant to be against Stoke.
The Express & Star reported that the Baggies had agreed a date to play the Potters but a delay in giving full-contact training the go-ahead meant that the all-Midland clash was scrapped.
West Brom may have had a lucky escape over that one but it is a shame that they might not be able to play against Man United now.
In other West Brom news, Filip Krovinovic has shared footage of his goal against Aston Villa.
