‘Always the plan’ – Reliable journalist comments on Callum Robinson future at West Brom
It was always the plan for West Brom loanee Callum Robinson to stay at the Hawthorns past this season, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist confirmed the news on Monday with the Republic of Ireland international staying with the Baggies for the final nine games of the season.
Robinson has hit the ground running since arriving from Sheffield United in January on an initial loan move.
Nixon responded to a question from a Baggies fan on his personal Twitter account, and it was what everyone was wanting to hear.
“It was always the plan at the start of the move,” he wrote.
It could be a busy summer in the Midlands for the Baggies. Filip Krovinovic, Matheus Pereira and Robinson could all make their loan switches permanent.
The Athletic’s Steve Madeley did share that another loan move for Krovinovic was likely next season rather than a permanent one, and that could also be the same for Robinson.
Robinson has been superb since arriving and has been a real standout performer in the final third – helping out with goals alongside Hal-Robson Kanu.
The 25-year-old has averaged a phenomenal 3.8 shots on goal in each game according to WhoScored. That is more than double of each striker at the club, and nearly two more than Pereira in second – that just highlights how influential he has been.
On top of that, Pereira is the only player to complete more key passes in each outing. With nine games to go, Robinson has the chance to push the Baggies into the Premier League.
