‘Best news I’ve heard all week’, ‘Beautiful’ – Many West Brom fans blown away by transfer update
West Brom fans are thrilled to see that Matheus Pereira is due to officially become a Baggies player this weekend after the match against Birmingham.
Slaven Bilic confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Thursday that “unless something crazy happens”, the 24-year-old’s loan deal will be converted into a permanent one.
Pereira joined Albion on a season-long loan from Sporting CP in the summer and the Black Country club is obliged to make the deal permanent once he makes 30 appearances of 45 minutes or more.
Before the coronavirus-enforced suspension of the season, Pereira has made 29 of those appearances but is now highly likely to make his 30th when Birmingham arrive at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon as the Championship campaign resumes.
It is a magnificent coup for West Brom.
Not only because Pereira is a wonderfully gifted player who seems way to good to be playing in the Championship but also because the Brazilian’s transfer to The Hawthorns will cost a fee worth £9million overall.
Many Albion fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight at the news.
It would make the perfect weekend if West Brom beat a West Midlands rival, go top of the Championship, open up the gap to third and sign the best player in the league permanently.
