Confirmed: West Brom to wrap up permanent transfer tomorrow with contract ‘sorted’

Slaven Bilic has confirmed that Matheus Pereira will officially become a West Brom player on Saturday after playing against Birmingham.

Pereira, 24, has been a sensation since joining the Baggies on loan from Sporting CP in the summer, scoring six goals and supplying 16 assists in 33 Championship appearances.

Albion have the obligation to sign Pereira if they win promotion to the Premier League or the Brazilian attacker makes 30 appearances of 45 minutes or more.

If Pereira plays 45 minutes against Birmingham tomorrow (Saturday) then his permanent switch to The Hawthorns will be sealed with Bilic revealing that contracts are sorted.

“He will become our player if he plays on Saturday,” Bilic said on Thursday, as quoted by the Express & Star.

“That is very likely to happen, of course, unless something crazy happens.

“But definitely we are delighted that it is happening.”

When asked if he was ever worried about the deal, Bilic added: “No – a contract is a contract.

“It’s all been sorted.

“Since day one, he has proven to be one of the biggest reasons why we are where we are.

“It’s great to have a situation where we have him permanently.”

Pereira is a Premier League player who has been playing in the Championship this season and West Brom have done extremely well to be able to land the Brazilian on a permanent deal for an overall fee of £9million.

Based on what we have seen this season, the attacking midfielder is worth at least double what the Baggies are paying for him.

Albion have nine games left of their Championship campaign and with a six-point gap between themselves and third, it is very likely that the club wins promotion this term.

Pereira belongs in the Premier League and he belongs in the Premier League wearing West Brom’s famous blue and white stripes.

In other West Brom news, Albion are due to announce a new deal for this long-serving player.
