West Brom ace Pereira issues one-word Twitter message ahead of Ch’ship restart
West Brom winger Matheus Pereira has taken to Twitter to send a one-word message to supporters ahead of the Baggies’ Championship restart on Saturday.
Albion will host local rivals Birmingham City as they look to get their promotion bid back up and running after a three-month break in play as a consequence of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The match will hold special significance for Pereira, who will trigger a permanent move to The Hawthorns if he features.
Slaven Bilic has already confirmed that he expects a deal for the 24-year-old to be completed in the immediate future, with a total fee of around £9 million set to secure the transfer.
And Pereira himself has taken to social media to emphasise just how eager he is to get back into action.
Writing on his personal account, the Brazilian shared a short video previewing the clash against Birmingham, alongside the caption: “Ready!”.
We’re all delighted to see Pereira on the brink of a permanent move to West Brom, but it would appear that he is equally as pleased to be at The Hawthorns.
The 24-year-old has shown fantastic attitude and enthusiasm over the course of this season, and this latest tweet only serves to reiterate that.
With 16 assists to his name this term, there is no question that the South American has been Albion’s principle creative force this term, and there’s plenty to suggest that he is ready to make the step up to the top flight.
His assists per 90 minutes rate of 0.28 is equal to Roberto Firmino’s for Liverpool this season, and is only bettered by Kevin De Bruyne, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Riyad Mahrez in the Premier League.
The prospect of Pereira mixing it with that calibre of player is an exciting one, and clearly one that Pereira himself is excited for too.
