West Brom player set to sign four-year deal after 0-0 draw v Birmingham – report
Matheus Pereira is set to sign a four-year contract with West Brom after a clause in his loan deal was triggered, according to Notícias ao Minuto.
Pereira, 24, joined Albion on a season-long loan deal from Sporting CP last summer and it was widely reported that after he made 30 appearances of 45 minutes or more, his loan deal would be automatically converted into a permanent one.
After playing the entire first half of West Brom’s 0-0 draw with Birmingham at The Hawthorns on Saturday, that clause was triggered.
Portuguese news outlet Notícias ao Minuto now reports that Pereira will put pen to paper on a four-year full-time contract with the Baggies.
It is a huge coup for Albion, who are signing a player who is more than good enough for the Premier League for a stupidly small fee of £9million.
Pereira is way too good for the Championship and is one of the main reasons why Slaven Bilic’s side has done so well this season.
We all thought that the £9million overall fee for Pereira was a top piece of business by Luke Dowling and everyone else working behind the scenes at The Hawthorns.
But the fact that Pereira is also going to be tied down to a four-year-long contract is also top work by the club.
It means we won’t be under any pressure to sell him any time soon and if we do, the club stands the chance of making a lot of money.
Hopefully Filip Krovinovic is the next one to sign up.
