Leeds journalist claims West Brom can be exploited as they ‘ungracefully’ head towards promotion
Leeds Live journalist Colin Millar has claimed that West Brom could be exploited as they stumble towards promotion.
It seems like a strange claim to make only days after the Baggies lept above the Whites back to the top of the Championship on goal difference.
West Brom drew 0-0 against Birmingham, whereas Leeds lost 2-0 against Cardiff in the Welsh capital on Sunday afternoon.
Millar claimed that the Baggies are performing with no real conviction, and appear to be stumbling towards promotion.
“The result and the manner of it will bring two primary concerns to West Brom, who are edging closer to the finishing line of promotion but are doing so ungracefully and appear to be stumbling over it, without any real sense of conviction,” he wrote for Leeds Live.
It was expected for there to be some rustiness on the first game back, and Slaven Bilic admitted he was proud of his squad and expects them to get better over the next month.
If West Brom are stumbling to the finish line with no conviction, we don’t know what Millar would call Leeds’ return to action on Sunday. The common response was that the Whites wouldn’t have scored if they were still playing now, not a good sign.
The Baggies would have loved three points against Birmingham on Saturday, but they did dominate on their way to another point closer to promotion.
With one more game ticked off, the Baggies even extended their gap to Fulham in third to seven points. West Brom did have 13 more shots on goal and kept 67% of the ball on Saturday though, and if they had snatched one goal, it would have been the perfect performance [WhoScored].
