‘Smashed it’, ‘Back to his best’ – Some West Brom fans thrilled by 28y/o after display v B’ham
West Brom fans would definitely have taken going top of the league and increasing the buffer back to third this weekend, but few would have thought that would come from a 0-0 draw with Birmingham.
Fulham lost to Brentford and then Leeds lost to Cardiff and that sees the Baggies take the top spot ahead of a tricky game on Friday.
The top four meet over the next gameweek and we might have a much clearer idea of what’s going on after that.
As for Saturday’s game, West Brom dominated possession but just couldn’t find a cutting edge in the final third.
Performances looked good overall and fitness was decent considering how long the players have been out, and we’re expecting a surge from the players after another week of training before the Brentford game.
Matheus Pereira showed flashes of magic throughout but we think Romaine Sawyers shaded it for man-of-the-match.
And these West Brom fans agreed with one saying, “Have to say ….I thought @RomaineSawyers had a great game today for #wba. Looked back to his best. Up there for motm.”
Another fan said he “controlled” the game and we’d go along with that. Few players read a game as well as Sawyers and he was behind the Baggies dominance. We just need to find our scoring feet again now, starting on Friday.
