‘Quality’, ‘Main instigator’ – West Brom Super Fans select their ‘MOTM’ in 0-0 v Birmingham

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.

West Brom moved top of the Championship table at the weekend despite being held to a goalless draw by Birmingham City at The Hawthorns.

Albion’s point and superior goal difference saw them leapfrog Leeds into first place before Marcelo Bielsa’s men lost 2-0 to Cardiff on Sunday.

Slaven Bilic’s side did little to impress against Birmingham.

Although they had most of the possession and the ball was in Blues’ defensive third for what seemed like the majority of the match, the away side still managed more shots on target and more clearcut chances.

Too many Albion players underperformed as the Championship season restarted but we have asked our panel of Super Fans to name their man of the match for the game.

Here is what they had to say:

Hayden Belgrave (@belgrave_hayden)

Luke Stokes (@lukestokes84)

Sharon (@shazkee)

Luke Pollard (@LukeyP_wba)

Jamie Rossiter (@Jay89R)

Dan Nash (@DanNash86)

Jon W (@JonW1995)

Northern Irish Baggies (@NIBaggies)

Centre-back Ahmed Hegazi and attacker Matheus Pereira are the popular choices and that is understandable.

Every attacking move by the Baggies seemed to come through Pereira, who is set to join West Brom permanently from Sporting CP after making his 30th start versus Birmingham.

As for Hegazi, little got past the colossal Egyptian and he has staked his claim to start in the defence ahead of Kyle Bartley when the Black Country club travels to Brentford on Friday night.

In other West Brom news, this Albion forward has been tipped to leave on loan in the summer.
