West Brom senior quartet agree new short-term deals – confirmed

West Brom have released their retained list for this season, confirming that four senior players have agreed contract extensions.

Chris Brunt, Gareth Barry, Lee Peltier and Jonathan Bond have all signed for another month at the Hawthorns to help with the club’s promotion bid.

Slaven Bilic only had a place on the bench for Bond on Saturday against Birmingham, with the other three options not used at all.

The retained list, released on the official club website on Monday, also confirmed the exits of four players.

Ali Al-Habsi will leave the club at the end of June, alongside academy products Jack Fitzwater and Kane Wilson as their contracts expire.

Luke Dowling released a statement alongside the list, confirming that Nathan Ferguson will also leave the club at the end of the month.

“We have made what can only be considered a very attractive offer to Nathan but he intends to pursue his career elsewhere,” he said.

The Athletic’s Steve Madeley reported on his personal Twitter account after the list was released that he expects Ferguson to complete his long-awaited move to Crystal Palace at the end of the season.

That has looked likely for months now, so it won’t be too much of a shock to Baggies’ fans to see one of their brightest talents leave the club at the end of the month.

This retained list just proves how strong West Brom’s squad is right now though. Bilic has tied down three of his most experienced players for another month, and even if they don’t feature, they will certainly help their teammates with their experience to get over the line.
