‘Let me tell you…’ – Sky Sports pundit delivers worrying West Brom & Leeds promotion verdict

Sky Sports pundit Scott Minto has warned West Brom that if they lose to Brentford on Friday night, they are running the risk of dropping out of the top-two.

Albion have failed to win their last three Championship fixtures but moved top of the table on Saturday with a 0-0 draw against Birmingham.

There is a seven-point gap between them and third-placed Fulham, who lost to Brentford at the weekend as the Bees moved within a point of the Cottagers.

Former West Ham and Chelsea player Minto believes that another win for Brentford on Friday could ring alarm bells at both West Brom and Leeds United.

“Going into the restart, I thought Fulham were going to be the only side capable of catching the top-two,” Minto said on Sky Sports’ EFL podcast.

“But let me tell you, if Brentford beat West Brom then they’re bang in it – they really are.

“It’s going to get very nervy for the top-two.”

Minto’s right but West Brom don’t need to concern themselves with anything that is happening below them and just concentrate and winning their remaining eight matches.

If they do that then promotion will be wrapped up sooner rather than later and Brentford’s form will be nothing but an irrelevance.

That doesn’t mean it’s not going to be a tough match on Friday night.

Brentford are a very good side with some very talented attacking players as well as a mean defence that is more than capable of shutting out a Baggies side that has blanked in the last two matches.

We’ll see how things unfold this week but we hope that Slaven Bilic makes changes from the team he selected against Birmingham on Saturday because the Albion boss got certain things wrong.

In other West Brom news, Don Goodman has been raving about Albion’s “unsung hero”.
