‘They will be sharper’ – Sky Sports pundit predicts score of West Brom clash v Brentford
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that West Brom will be held to a third draw in a row at Brentford on Friday night.
Albion travel to Griffin Park having failed to win any of their last four fixtures across all competitions and failing to score in any of their last three Championship outings.
Prutton has backed the Baggies to rediscover their goalscoring form but can see Brentford being good enough to earn a 2-2 draw against the league leaders.
“If Brentford were to have any hope of automatic promotion then they needed to take maximum points from their first two games following the restart. They have done half the job by beating Fulham last week, and now they need to close the gap to West Brom,” Prutton wrote on the Sky Sports website.
“It is hard to talk too much about recent form, considering the three-month gap, but Slaven Bilic’s side have now failed to score in their last three Championship games. They will be sharper than they were against Birmingham, but Brentford have the best defence in the league.
“This could go either way, but I can’t split the pair. Draw for me.”
We agree that this game is likely to end in a draw but that would not be the worst result for West Brom – even though it would mean their winless run would extend to five games.
Albion are seven points ahead of third-placed Fulham at the moment but a win for Fulham and Brentford this weekend will be a nightmare scenario that we would want to avoid.
At the moment, a seven-point gap is quite comfortable but if that is reduced to four points – with Fulham still to play – then it will certainly be time to panic.
Ideally, we would like to beat Brentford.
West Brom’s form against the better Championship sides this season has been quite good so let’s hope that the Baggies can come out on top in West London this week.
