‘Abysmal’, ‘Woeful’ – Many West Brom fans tear apart player who had ‘shocker’ v Brentford

Slaven Bilic made the decision to only make one change to his West Brom starting XI for the 1-0 defeat at Brentford on Friday evening.

Grady Diangana returned to action to replace Callum Robinson, meaning that there were no starting spots for the likes of Kyle Bartley and Charlie Austin at Griffin Park.

West Brom kept their spot at the top of the Championship on goal difference but that could all change when Leeds play Fulham this afternoon.

Ahmed Hegazi impressed against Birmingham, but never got into the game against the Bees and he played a big role in the deciding goal.

It was a flowing move down the right which could have been stopped numerous times by Matt Phillips and Darnell Furlong, but the ball still found its way to Josh Da Silva.

The midfielder’s cross was missed by Semi Ajayi and the Egyptian international was the wrong side of Ollie Watkins who placed the ball in the roof of the net.

When you’re competing for promotion to the Premier League, you can’t allow one of the deadliest strikers in the division to get goal side of you, that is the harsh truth.

The Egyptian only won a couple of aerial battles and tackles in the game according to WhoScored and should have managed Watkins much better.

Many West Brom fans reacted to Hegazi’s latest showing, with the majority not happy with his decision making in the defeat.

A large handful of Albion fans claimed that this was the last straw and that Bartley must come into replace him against Sheffield Wednesday.
