View: ‘Unbelievably good’ comment from Brentford boss Frank should give WBA renewed hope

West Brom nerves are jangling an awful lot more than we were hoping they would be two games after the Championship restart.

The Baggies have picked up just one point from a possible six since action resumed, and never looked at the races in their 1-0 defeat to Brentford on Friday night.

But while there is plenty to be wary about, there is also plenty to be optimistic about too.

And nothing sums that up better than the words of Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

As quoted by the Birmingham Mail, he said: “I still think West Brom are in a much better position than us and if I could be in that position, of course, I would prefer that, but we are very pleased with the performance tonight in many, many ways.

“I’d have liked us to be sharper on the counter just to kill the game off and there were spells where I’d have liked us to be even better on the ball but we were playing against number one and they are an unbelievably good side.”

He’s not wrong either.

We may have come out of the gates looking more than a little rusty, but the key thing to remember here is that the Baggies are still in control.

The gap is five points, and as long as they get their act together soon, they still have the power to decide their own fate.

Some matches stand out as being particularly stern tests, such as the clash with in-form Derby County and a top of the table tie with Fulham, but as Frank points out, the Baggies are still one of the top sides in the division.

If they pull their finger out, this blip doesn’t have to become anything more than a minor wobble.

If they don’t, we could be in trouble.
