Fulham boss Scott Parker has insisted that his side will find it tough to catch West Brom in the Championship automatic promotion spots this season.
The Cottagers fell seven-points behind the Baggies after they lost to fellow rivals Leeds United 3-0 on Saturday at Elland Road.
Brentford leapfrogged Fulham over the weekend after taking all three points from the Albion at Griffin Park.
Parker believes that he can’t categorically rule it out, but it would be a massive ask for his side to finish in the top two this season.
“I think that is going to be a big ask,” he said, via Birmingham Live.
“I wouldn’t write it off. We are in a world where the unexpected and surprises can happen. We have seen in a short period results in the last couple of games, surprises can come about.”
Fulham’s task could be about to come even harder in the coming weeks, with Aleksander Mitrovic clearly elbowing Ben White against Leeds on Saturday.
Leeds Live have reported on Sunday that the FA have opened their investigation into the Serbian, who could face a three-match ban for the controversial incident.
So, Fulham could miss their main man for three matches in the business end of the season. If it goes from bad to worst, the Londoners could be further back than just seven points when the two meet at the Hawthorns next month.
It is vitally important that West Brom concentrate on themselves at this moment though, with Albion desperately needing to put an end to their four-match slump on Wednesday.
