Confirmed West Brom team news: Phillips axed in five changes v Sheff Weds, Grosicki involved

West Brom manager Slaven Bilic has made five changes to his starting line-up for the clash against Sheffield Wednesday.

Albion confirmed via their official Twitter account ahead of kick-off at Hillsborough that Dara O’Shea, Kyle Bartley, Rekeem Harper, Filip Krovinovic and Charlie Austin have all returned to the starting line-up.

Darnell Furlong, Semi Ajayi, Jake Livermore and Hal Robson-Kanu have all been dropped, with fans no doubt pleased to see that Matt Phillips has been axed too.

Kamil Grosicki is involved too, making the bench.

West Brom go into their match this evening without winning – or scoring – in their last four Championship outings.

Despite the poor run of form, Albion are still second in the Championship but are only two points ahead of Brentford, who have beaten Fulham, the Baggies and Reading since the season restarted last month.

Bilic’s men are yet to hit their stride since the season kicked off again with most of the players looking as though they still had a lot of rust to shake off following a three-month break in play.

Hopefully that will have changed in time to play the Owls with Bilic’s changes making a difference as well as the overall increase in match fitness.

One thing is for sure and that is that West Brom really do need to win this match to preserve a big enough gap between themselves and Brentford.

If they fail to beat Garry Monk’s side, they could be third by the time they play Hull on Sunday as the Bees play Wigan 24 hours earlier.

Every match is a must-win now. Hopefully the players see that and can get the job done.

Come on you Baggies.
